Smoke Smoke Smokie

Driving back into the valley after a wonderful time up in Tahoe was very difficult. The smoke from all the fires has just filled the whole valley and foothill areas. It felt like I was driving into the LA area with all the smog. The sun was orange and the air thick with smoke.

Welcome back home after the nice long 4Th of July weekend. Chrisi, Jon, Jacob and I drove back into Sacramento mid day Sunday from Lake Tahoe. We were joined by Chris, Debi, Alyssa and the two latest editions to the family - Cole and Otis. Cole and Otis are two wonderful year old Labradors. Chris's family has had Cole since he was a pup and it now a little over a year old. Cole is a Black Lab and is a wonderful, playful energetic dog. I have been around Cole since he was around six months old. He has a unique personality and is a very alert dog. Even though he is scared of his own shadow and his bark is worse then his bite he is a very fun loyal companion for Chris's family. Otis on the other hand is a ham of a dog. Otis almost has no fear of anything and will get into anything any time and listens as well as any four year old after eating ice cream. During a trip to Phoenix this summer Otis lived in the pool with all of us and routinely would jump into the pool with you as you took a plunge. Always keep a look out when Otis is pool side.

Well the 4Th of July weekend was an awesome experience at Lake Tahoe. I have never seen a fireworks show as beautiful as that. The whole South Shore area was packed in when the fireworks kicked off. We came home Sunday afternoon with all the other city peeps. The ride home with all the kids and dogs took what usually would be just about a two hour drive into five hours of pure fun in the car with both families. We all made it home safely and it was a great time. I would recommend checking out the fireworks up at Lake Tahoe. Make sure you get a good spot early in the day because it fills up quick.

Happy 4th of July

How many people know what or why we celebrate the forth of July? Two hundred and thirty two years ago our country signed a little document http://www.ushistory.org/Declaration/ . From my time in the Marines I gained a huge appreciation of what it means to be a free country. There is a huge price to be paid in order for us Americans to have this life style. It is very important that us as Americans understand why we celebrate this historic holiday. To most the fireworks at night are a visual treat of lights and booms. I feel the same as most in the joy of the beautiful explosions high in the sky however I understand what the firework show symbolizes. I just hope everyone can take the time to understand how and why we are a free country and take a huge pride in the 4Th of July celebration. Happy 4Th of July.
